Land Acknowledgement: Bio Terrava acknowledges that our headquarters in Ottawa is located on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation. As we build infrastructure across Turtle Island, we recognize the enduring presence and deep traditional knowledge, laws, and philosophies of all First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples with whom we partner.

True Partnership

Water Sovereignty Through Structural Equity

We do not build infrastructure for Indigenous communities; our models are Nation-led and community-defined. Bio Terrava is committed to supporting long-term water sovereignty and capacity building through genuine, revenue-sharing partnerships.

"True partnership means shared risk, shared governance, and shared prosperity. Bio Terrava's commitment to upfront capacity funding and structural equity sets a new standard for infrastructure development in First nations territories."

The Engagement Protocol

Bio Terrava’s engagement framework is strictly aligned with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC). We recognize that clean water is a fundamental right and a sacred trust.

1

Pre-Engagement & Cost Coverage

Communities are routinely asked to consult on projects without funding. Bio Terrava pre-commits consultation and capacity-building funding so the Nation does not bear the financial burden of technical reviews or legal counsel during preliminary discussions.

2

Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK)

Western engineering alone is insufficient. Knowledge Keepers and Elders actively participate in—and hold veto power over—site selection, water-quality discharge criteria, and end-of-life decommissioning plans.

3

Two-Eyed Seeing & Dispute Resolution

We adopt a "Two-Eyed Seeing" approach to problem-solving. Dispute resolution mechanisms are structurally embedded in our agreements to include both Western legal frameworks and traditional community justice/mediation protocols.

4

Exit Discretion

Sovereignty means the right to walk away. Our MOU and JV templates contain clear, no-penalty exit provisions at the discretion of the community leadership prior to finalizing capital deployment.

The Joint Venture Term Sheet

We move beyond tokenism by committing publicly to a Community Benefit Floor. Our infrastructure deployments are structured to ensure profound, generational wealth transfers.
