Simultaneous Nitrification-Denitrification (SND)

The VASCGBC-M composite is an engineered, multimodal bio-ceramic matrix designed to transition traditional, passive environmental materials into active "Smart Media."

Its breakthrough capability is performing SND within a single, highly oxygenated tank. The complex tortuosity of the geopolymer-biochar matrix creates distinct Dissolved Oxygen gradients, housing aerobic nitrifying bacteria on the shell and anaerobic denitrifying bacteria in the deep crypts.
