The Kitchener Drainage Canal is a 69-kilometre stretch through Egypt's Nile Delta (Gharbia and Kafr El-Sheikh governorates) draining 456,700 feddans of agricultural catchment. Before intervention, 3.71 million m³/day of untreated wastewater discharged into the Mediterranean.
